5 reasons for having original content on your blog
This entry has been inspired by one created on my Romanian blog, after having one of my best articles there stolen and posted in another blog. It is a bit “mean”, but you already got used to my style
I cannot understand why some people would rely on unoriginal copied content? Does this make their blog better? Is this “bulk” content all they are in for? Here are my 5 reasons for you, dear blogger to NEVER steal content:
- you’re just too pathethic. It’s all clear: you open up your blog dreaming of a new car you’ll buy with the money made from blogging. You fail to understand that it’s possible to get revenue from a blog, but you have to WORK a lot on this. And if you are not able to keep up a blog with your own content why do you waste space and bandwidth with your stupid project anyway?
- You’ll get caught and make an ..ss of yourself. Poeple find out fast about plagiarism. Your stolen content might show up in some searches or the author might get the link from someone who reports the copy-paste. Some people (like me) look in Google, stats and even copyscape for stolen content. It’s not the first time we have content stolen from others, so you can imagine we know the deal. And when we catch you, imagine how nice your image will be.
- the world is smaller than you think. Maybe you’re a teen. Or just a beginner blogger and it’s a phase for you. What if this might actually work? Maybe your blog starts getting traffic and exposure. And some people might be interested in working with you. But on a simple google search they’ll find our you’re a content thief. Won’t this be painful? Losing good future deals because people see you as not worthy to write your own creations?
- you might get suspended. I had a teen steal my MyBB.ro layout because “he liked it”. I had then a small chat with other hosting providers in my country and the majority admitted they would suspend his account in 2 seconds. I provide hosting myself. I’d suspend such an account too .. very fast.
- there are so many things to discuss … on a personal or business blog there are thousands of possible topics. There are so many weird things going on or interesting information to share, that I just don’t see any reason to steal content.
Was I able to convince you?
Content stealing is not cool. If you like an article, write a small paragraph about it and maybe present your own view. Put a nice link to the original article. You’ll be able to make a good post and also be correct and provide the source. Be as honest as you would like other people to be with you.
