Wtricks.com is an old site of mine. We have a forum for webmasters to discuss about anything web related but so far the index page (the root of the domain) wasn’t being used to its full potential. It’s now a PR4 page, so I though something needs to be done.

So, now we have a digg like script installed and we’ll be able to promote our articles. There is a twist though: ONLY WEB RELATED ARTICLES.

To be honest, I am sick of trying to get to web articles while digging through menopause related information, eating habits or fleas for dogs. This is why in our project we’ll accept only web related information. It would be easier for us all to find our information there.

We have a new site in the network dedicated to all you EntreCard users. It’s a simple classifieds site where we all can trade EntreCard credits for money or other services. Listings are free. We also have some premium listings (where you can put a clickable link to your site, make the ad featured and put a picture too.

What can you trade there? Anything related to your credits:

• buy credits with money (you say how much you are willing to pay for as many credits as you are interested)
• sell credits for money (if you have many, why not get some real money?)
• trade credits for advertising or content (articles)
• promote your entrecard contests

The site is new and I haven’t started the redesign (of course it will be amazing :)). But it’s 100% functional and we can start working on it. Feel free to join.

I have seen many blogs offer this “roundup” or revision thinggy and I thought it’s a good idea to try this too. Even if we all hated revisions at school, now it’s a good idea to bring back to your attention the articles we have posted in this blog the last week.

Get a domain! -  Yes, I am a total snob and I am just getting sick of seeing free hosted sites on God knows what subdomains. I have been there too 5 years ago and I can tell you it’s not a blast. The best thing I was able to do for my sites was to put them on their own domains.

Be consistent! - There is a word in Romania: “you won’t make it spring with just a flower”. So, in order to succeed in anything we need to be consistent. Find out what this means for your site/blog.

How to make sure you don’t escape the validation filter in forums - this is a “mean” article, a parody if you like to call it like this. Some of the things that make me delete an account as soon as I see it created on my forums. Laugh a bit, but do think about these tips next time you register in a community.

Build your BRAND on the forums - speaking of forums: learn how to be easy to recognize on them as an authority, how to build your own “brand” through the communities. For 6 years this has been the BEST way I was able to get quality traffic and business to my network, I think something there does work.

Why I don’t like some star blogs - this is again a “mean” article. I do know about the big bloggers, I do visit them frequently and some of them still attract me like a magnet. Still, there are some things I just dislike and some top bloggers I don’t visit for more than 2 seconds. What to read there in the end aside of tens of paid reviews and way too many affiliate links? Read all about my “problem” in this last article we have posted.

I know you have missed me (those 2-3 people who visited the blog here), so I have decided to start writing in here again, especially since I bothered register the domain name. The thing that triggered my need to write to you would be for instance the fact Adi, my good friend, has also started her own English blog.

What can I tell you now: I am working a lot on  my small web design firm. I have my first advertising campaigns and the first people to really tick me off. Can’t understand for the life of me the need some people have to haggle when it comes even to this. I am selling advertising on a webmaster forum I have created in Romanian and I got a nice “offer” from a guy who’s willing to pay HALF my price and thinks that having 1 year of advertising would sweeten the blow. Yeah sure, I really want to use a valid advertising spot (with increased price in the next month due to the nice development of the project) for 1 entire year at with half my asking price. Oh my.

The next thing that made me really angry, besides the flu I am still battling these days, would be another awesome offer. They wanted the footer part of 4 sites (the site mentioned before included) for 30 links they would put there and the offer was 25 Euros/month, again with a contract for 1 year.

I might be slightly dunce, but a link only on that Romanian webmaster forums would be something like 10 USD/month (according to dnscoop.com for instance, since Text-Link-Ads.com don’t have the free price link calculator in place anymore). So .. I can sell 30 links with 300 USD (only on that site) for 1 month’s time. Let’s even say 5 dollars and we are still WAY ahead of the wonderful offer.

I just didn’t know what to say: feel mad for being taken for a fool or be amused with their candor?

Aside my small advertising problems I can also brag with spending way too much on some vBulletin licenses for some of my forums, getting another small Adsense check and most importantly working my ..tt off for web design clients, since they are the ones who pay the best.

The small business is looking pretty dandy right now, as I look more and more like Casper the friendly ghost due to severe exhaustion. If I am not dying these months, I’ll be the next Bill Gates

Well I think I am just too lazy.

I have found out in my not that short and still not that long life that we seem to be pretty talented when it comes to mocking at people. It’s easier to be mean than to compliment someone. I think many would think something like “ok, hon, when’s the milking hour?” when we seem a woman who’s more under Rubens’ ideas of the good looking woman and less of a skinny, underfed figure .. we are sure that the guy in front of us has an IQ lower than his shoe size and maybe fail to understand these people DO have qualities and not only those flaws we notice first.

Yes, I am lazy .. instead of seeing the beauty in the world and how nice people are, we’ll focus on the idiots who make our life a living hell, authorities that are in a constant contest to be the biggest morons, neighbours who spit on our window or annoy us with their presence and other nice uplifting stories ..

Because JohnChow should learn at least now how to run a decent blog .. or maybe because I am too mean to fit in a tech blog (believe I tried) or a musical one. I have too many ideas (some good and some pretty dumb) and the urge to make you all read these masterpieces.

Or maybe because I am indeed crazy.

This blog comes as the 22nd site I personally own. I had created the 20th few weeks ago and really promised I won’t go pass that number. Imagine I have 2 more domains bought since then in a 2 weeks time.

No, I won’t say I’ll stop here .. we know I won’t.

What can I say about this blog?

It will be original, well written, smart and mean. It will be ME.
